Well, ghostwriting is the practice of writing something for someone else (usually for hire). It has been around for thousands of years, and the Bible itself could be said to have been ghostwritten because scribes, not prophets, wrote the various books.

More recently, celebrities and other well-known people have used ghostwriters when they got around to writing their book, be it a memoir or a cookbook.
